The 10 Most Hotly Debated Workout Topics
Fitness is a journey; a very personal one for that matter. Our bodies are different, our needs are different thus our bodies react differently. Often whilst training, one is met with the constant dilemma about the specific fitness routine one must undertake to achieve the best results. Following are the 10 most hotly debated workout topics that have left every fitness junkie at crossroads.
Diet, Exercise, or Both?
When starting out with one's fitness journey, the first thought anyone has is to go join the gym whereas others simply believe that strict dieting is the way to go. Going on crash diets, or slaving in the gym for hours won't cut it. It's never one or the other. Your diet makes an approximate 80% contribution to your transformation and the rest is exercise.
Is Cardio Your Best Bet?
Many people are firm believers in cardio. To be honest, cardio can get quite monotonous and boring for many. Unless you enjoy that kind of routine, there is no obligation to run on the treadmill until you're about to pass out.
Strength Training; the Ultimate Test?
Strength training sounds very intimidating but it essentially is forcing your muscles to push their limit. It's a gradual yet rewarding process because in the end, you come out stronger with a more muscle to fat ratio than what you started off with.
Is A Gym Necessary?
Not really, because you can get a good workout at home or somewhere outside in the open. Weightlifting and toning exercises can easily be done from the comfort of your home.
What Makes a Good Workout?
The best workout is one that utilizes as many muscles as possible. These can easily be divided into four categories and a good workout needs to fulfill 2 of these only:
- Leg exercises
- Push exercises
- Pull exercises
How Many Exercises Should One Do in Single workout Session?
Choose between a typical strength training routine and a circuit. The former involves multiple sets with smaller reps and rests in between. The latter is faster paced and omits rests.
Frequency of Strength Training?
While the frequency and duration of training depends entirely on your schedule and your fitness goals, it is advised to not exhaust the same muscle group 2 days in a row.
What Workout Plan to Follow?
Each routine bears results, some sooner than others but the important thing to bear in mind is that you need to keep your diet in mind and remain consistent.
No Progress; Why?
The best way to keep track of your progress is to note it down. Never stick to one set routine. Keep making adjustments and push your body to do better. It's tedious but the end result is worth the wait.
Cardio, Strength Training or Both?
If you have it in you, then simply go for it. Just make sure to not overwork your body.
We hope that this answered some common misconceptions associated with fitness and workouts. At the end of the day it's your body and you just have to stay motivated. Let us know what's your take on workout?
